Staffed by a Registered Dietitian, this department assesses the nutritional status of patients to ensure the appropriate diets. Working closely with the physician, the registered dietitian plans and approves all meals to achieve the proper recommended daily allowances for patients while they are in the hospital. Upon discharge, the dietitian makes recommendations for the patient returning home and can provide outpatient counseling and education as needed.
