MEDICAL SURGICAL UNIT
Punxsutawney Area Hospital has a 35 Bed Medical Surgical Unit that provides medical, surgical, and observation services to our residents of Jefferson County and the surrounding areas. Our staff has a wide range of training and experience, providing treatment for those ranging in age from one month to end of life patients.
Some common diagnoses we treat include:
- Pneumonia
- Congestive Heart Failure
- Urinary Disease
- Bowel Obstructions
- Joint Replacements
- Hernia repairs
- Gynecological Surgeries
Care Team includes:
- Hospitalist
- Registered Nurses
- Licensed Practical Nurses
- Certified Nursing Assistants
- Unit Secretaries
Services Provided:
- Assessment of Patient from admission to discharge
- Administration of medication
- Pre- and post-operative education
- Coordinating plans of care with patients, their families, ancillary departments, and other facilities
- Providing discharge education for the family and patient
Hours of Operation:
- 24 hours a day
- 7 days a week
