OB/GYN

New OBGYN

Obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN) is the medical specialty focused on the health of the female reproductive system and women’s health throughout all stages of life. Physicians who practice in this field are called obstetricians and gynecologists. They are specially trained to care for women during pregnancy and childbirth, perform procedures such as cesarean deliveries, and diagnose and treat conditions affecting the reproductive system.
OB/GYN physicians have comprehensive knowledge in both obstetrics and gynecology, allowing them to care for patients through a wide range of needs—from routine preventive care and screenings to pregnancy, delivery, and complex reproductive health concerns. Because of this broad expertise, they often serve as a patient’s primary women’s health provider and may also work closely with other physicians as consultants when specialized care is needed.
At Punxsutawney Physician Group, our obstetrics and gynecology team is dedicated to supporting women’s health at every stage of life. We proudly serve the women of the Punxsutawney community by providing compassionate, personalized care, including family planning, prenatal and postpartum care, routine screenings, diagnostic testing, treatment planning, and management of a variety of gynecologic conditions. Our team is here to help you make informed decisions about your health and provide the care you need close to home.

Healthy Beginnings Plus

Healthy Beginnings Plus is Pennsylvania's effort to assist low-income, pregnant women who are eligible for Medical Assistance (MA) in having a positive prenatal care experience. Healthy Beginnings Plus (HBP) expands maternity services that can be reimbursed by the MA Program. The intent of Healthy Beginnings Plus is to render services that meet women's psychosocial needs in addition to rendering traditional medical/obstetric services. Federal legislation permits Pennsylvania to extend MA eligibility to pregnant women with family incomes up to 185 percent of federal poverty guidelines. Pregnant clients may elect to participate in Healthy Beginnings Plus or receive their prenatal care in the traditional MA system.
