Punxsutawney Area Hospital Strengthens EMS Partnerships at EMS Update 2026

EMS

Mountains Health—comprised of Punxsutawney Area Hospital (PAH), Indiana Regional Medical Center (IRMC), and Armstrong County Memorial Hospital (ACMH)—recently participated in EMS Update 2026, one of Pennsylvania’s largest gatherings of emergency medical services professionals. The event brought together EMS providers, physicians, nurses, and first responders from across the region, creating an important opportunity to strengthen collaboration and improve patient care.
Building Stronger EMS Partnerships
At EMS Update 2026, Mountains Health highlighted its unified commitment to working alongside EMS providers—the first critical link in the chain of care. Across PAH, IRMC, and ACMH, teams are focused on enhancing communication, coordination, and efficiency to support EMS professionals in the field.
Through initiatives such as streamlined handoff processes, direct-to-bed pathways when appropriate, and ongoing efforts to reduce emergency department wall times, Mountains Health is helping EMS crews return to service quickly while maintaining the highest standards of patient care.
The organization also emphasized the importance of early communication in time-sensitive emergencies such as stroke, STEMI, and trauma. Advance notification allows hospital teams to prepare and mobilize, ensuring rapid evaluation and treatment upon patient arrival.
Advancing Emergency Care Across the Region
Mountains Health represents a collaborative network dedicated to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care across Armstrong, Indiana, and Jefferson counties and beyond. Each hospital—PAH, IRMC, and ACMH—plays a vital role in ensuring access to emergency services throughout western Pennsylvania.
With a strong regional presence and accessible locations, the network is committed to providing efficient, coordinated care while maintaining close partnerships with EMS agencies.
A Shared Mission
Participation in EMS Update 2026 reflects Mountains Health’s mission to provide exceptional healthcare to the communities it serves. Guided by its core values of Honesty, Empathy, Accountability, Respect, and Teamwork (HEART), the organization continues to prioritize collaboration, innovation, and excellence in rural healthcare.
Looking Ahead
EMS Update 2026 served as a valuable platform for connection, education, and collaboration. Representatives from PAH, IRMC, and ACMH expressed their appreciation for the dedication and expertise of EMS professionals and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening these partnerships.
By working together, Mountains Health and EMS providers are helping ensure faster response times, improved outcomes, and healthier communities across the region.
